Xavier Restrepo can set career Miami records against Duke

Xavier Restrepo is eight receiving yards behind Mike Harley and 119 receiving yards behind Santana Moss for the all-time Miami receiver record. Restrepo has an excellent chance to reach both records on Saturday against Duke. Restrepo is averaging 5.4 receptions and 88.8 yards per game in 2024.

Restrepo’s season highs in 2024 are seven receiving threes and 163 receiving yards against California. Duke enters Week 10 in first place in the ACC, allowing 166.6 passing yards per game, a passer rating of 104.92, just seven passing TDs and 5.4 yards per attempt. Miami relied on its run against Florida State.

Florida State took away the big play and limited Miami, which averages 366.8 yards passing per game, to a season-low 215 yards through the air. Restrepo finished the season with four receptions and a season-low 24 yards. North Carolina and SMU are the only teams that have thrown for more than 200 yards against Duke this season.

SMU’s Roderick Daniels became the first receiver over 100 yards against Duke in 2024 with two receptions for 153 yards on Saturday in a 28-27 overtime win. Northwestern’s AJ Henning and Georgia Tech’s Malik Rutherford set season highs with eight receptions against Duke in 2024.

Restrepo is currently second all-time in Miami history with 174 receptions and third with 2,427 receiving yards. Restrepo played in parts of five seasons. As a freshman in 2020, Restepo played in seven games and missed five games during his junior season in 2022 due to a foot injury.

Restrepo has been healthy since 2022. In 2023, Restrepo set the Miami single-season record with 85 receptions. Restrepo will finish his Miami career as the most productive receiver in program history. Restrepo should leave Miami as the first receiver with over 200 receptions in his career and has the potential to surpass 3,000 receiving yards.
