Women’s soccer meets Stetson on Thursday

THE HILL| The Alabama A&M University women’s soccer team (0-2-0) travels to the Sunshine State on Thursday to face ASUN foe Stetson (1-1-0) in DeLand, Florida, with kickoff at 5 p.m. CT.

Thursday’s game is the third stop on the Bulldogs’ road trip. In her last game, sophomore Liliana Ribiero made a season-high 15 saves against the Lipscomb Bisons and did not allow a goal in the second half.

The Stetson Hatters opened their season with back-to-back games on the road, first against the Gardner-Webb Bulldogs. The Hatters scored a goal in the 90th minute to secure the 2-1 victory. Stetson then struggled against Wofford, where they failed to put a goal on net during the 90 minutes and ultimately lost 1-0 to the Terriers.

The Bulldogs and Terriers have never faced each other on the field, and AAMU head coach Prince Borde is looking forward to starting the series on a high note. “This weekend we’re looking forward to making history and trusting the process,” he said. “We’ve had a much better start to the season. Stetson is a good team, but we’ve worked hard in practice and the results are just around the corner. Being on the road has brought us closer together, so we can’t wait for this challenge.”
