Women’s golf takes fourth place at the Tiger Classic

CLEMSON, SC – The UNC Greensboro (UNCG) women’s golf team finished fourth with a team score of eight over par (584) at Clemson’s Tiger Classic on the John E. Walker Course on Monday.

TEAM

  • UNCG finished the first round at five over par (293) and the second and final round of the one-day, 36-hole, 16-team tournament at three over par (291).
  • The Spartans finished six strokes ahead of their Southern Conference (SoCon) opponent, Mercer, who finished in fifth place, and 33 strokes ahead of another SoCon opponent, Western Carolina, who finished in 14th place in the tournament.
  • Georgia Southern won the title with a score of 17 under par (559). Campbell finished second at two under par (572) and host team Clemson finished the day in third place with a score of one over par (577).
  • UNCG achieved a total of 105 pars and 32 birdies in the day’s two rounds.

PERSON

  • In her Spartan debut Kasey McIlvaine led UNCG with a one-over-par (145) and finished tied for 14th place in the tournament. She made a total of seven birdies in the two rounds.
  • Seniors Grace Holcomb And Ava Romfo finished second on the team with two over par (146) and finished in 18th place. Holcomb made a total of nine birdies, Romfo seven on the day.
  • Second semester Elle Burnette finished the match at five over par (149) and tied for 31st place. Burnette recorded five birdies during the day.
  • Junior Julia Baeumken finished with a six-over-par (150) effort that tied for 41st place. She made four birdies in total, including three in the first round and one in the second.
