Women’s golf season starts at the Clemson Tiger Classic

GREENSBORO, N.C. – The UNC Greensboro (UNCG) women’s golf team opens its season on Monday, August 26, at the Tiger Classic hosted by Clemson at the John E. Walker Course in Clemson, South Carolina.

This will be the second year Kasey McIlvaines for the first time in the UNCG women’s golf program since transferring from Marshall. She was a member of the Sun Belt All-Tournament Team last season.

Par / Yardage: 72 par / 6,209 yards.

THE FORMAT
The 36-hole, 16-team, one-day tournament begins at 8:30 a.m. with a shotgun start and players play two rounds continuously.

SPARTAN STATS FROM LAST SEASON

  • UNCG finished in the top five four times in the 2023/24 season.
  • The Spartans finished sixth in the Southern Conference (SoCon) tournament. Romfo led UNCG individually and finished 10th overall. She led the Spartans all year with a 75.19 batting average in 27 rounds.
  • Holcomb finished 13th at the SoCon Championship, finishing second on the Spartans with a 27-round stroke average of 75.67.
  • Baeumken was fourth on last year’s team with a stroke average of 76.71 in 24 rounds.
  • Burnette had a batting average of 76.78 in 27 games last season, ranking fifth on the team.
  • The Spartans’ best result as a team was at the Elon Women’s Invitational, where they took second place among 15 teams last September.
