Women’s basketball ends Greece trip with victory

ATHENS, Greece – Head Coach Bridgette Mitchell‘s Rams earned a second victory over Athens Select on Friday night with a score of 91 to 34.

The Rams started off hot in their second game against Athens Select tonight, showing a turnaround from their first game against Thessaloniki Select on Tuesday. The difference in starts resulted in a 91-point game compared to the 71 points scored previously.

HOW IT BEGAN

The Rams came strong with Emma Wilson-Saltos winning the no-contest jump ball and quickly passing it to an A-10 All-Conference teammate, Taylor Donaldsonwho scored an easy layup. From there, the Rams scored 24 points, all from the field, Athens Select 10 points. Remarkable, Freshman Camila De Pool played excellent defense, forced a 10-second call in front of the halfway line and stole the ball from her opponent to make a clear three-point shot. Her teammates, Zaria Shazer And Taya Davissupported them on the boards and prepared the offensive.

At halftime, the Rams were ahead 48 to 19. Zaria Shazer hit shots from the block, while Wilson-Saltos made second attempts. In the third quarter, three freshmen were on the field at the same time, De Pool, Karissa Antoine And Anastasija Veljovic They played key positions for Coach Mitchell’s team. The smoothness of the passes to converted points was evident in the fourth quarter when the Rams took a commanding lead, reaching 90 points before Athens Select reached 30. Amiyah Ferguson led the offense in the second half, where the biggest point differential was achieved. The depth coming off the bench kept the energy on the court, with each player spending multiple minutes on the court.
