A 74-year-old woman was struck and killed by a motor vehicle in Marlboro, Vermont, on Saturday, police said.

Authorities identified the victim as Constance J. Vrooman of Sharon Springs, New York.

At 11:03 a.m., police received multiple 911 calls reporting a pedestrian accident on VT-9 near the Hogback Mountain overlook, according to a statement from the Vermont State Police.

The overlook, which is connected to the Hogback Mountain Country Store, is 2,250 feet above sea level on Route 9, the website says.

With the help of the Deerfield Valley Emergency Services and the Marlboro Fire Department, police officers went to the scene of the accident, where a 2018 Chevrolet Silverado struck the pedestrian, the statement said.

Officials said Vrooman died at the scene of the accident. The accident is still under investigation.
