Woman and two children, including a five-month-old, fall to their deaths at Niagara Falls

A New York woman and two children, including a toddler, died this week after crossing Niagara Falls, state police said.

The incident occurred near Goat Island around 9 p.m. Monday, state police said in a statement.

“The investigation has determined that this incident was intentional in nature, however the circumstances remain under investigation,” the statement said.

The 33-year-old woman and two children, a 9-year-old and a 5-month-old, were all from Niagara Falls, state police said.

State police did not provide any information about the relationship between the woman and the children in the statement.

According to state police, an investigation revealed that the woman and children crossed a safety railing and flew over Niagara Falls on Luna Island, which is adjacent to Goat Island.

State Police and Park Police attempted a rescue. The incident did not pose a threat to the public, state police said.
