    If you’re wearing a ghost costume tonight, you better hang up your sheets.

    That’s because wind gusts of 35 to 45 mph are expected in the Columbus area and across much of central Ohio and the rest of the state this afternoon and into the evening hours, a special weather statement from the National said Weather service in Wilmington.

    According to the NWS, wind can blow around light, unsecured objects such as decorations, especially inflatable ones. The wind may cause small branches to fall from the trees, potentially posing a danger to people outside this afternoon and evening during Halloween festivities.

    There is also a slight chance of showers between 2pm and 3pm and a chance of showers and thunderstorms after 3pm. The chance of precipitation is only 30% during the day and less than a tenth of an inch is expected to fall, but more could fall if there are storms, according to an NWS-Wilmington forecast.

    Tonight, showers and thunderstorms are expected before 11pm, after which showers are possible between 11pm and midnight. The chance of precipitation is 70%. Less than a tenth of an inch of rain is expected, but more could fall in storms.

    • Monday: Showers are possible before 2 p.m. It will be mostly cloudy with a high near 75°. The chance of precipitation is 40%.
    • Monday evening: It will be mostly cloudy, with a low around 62°.
    • Tuesday: There is a risk of showers. It will be mostly cloudy with a high temperature of 78 degrees. The chance of precipitation is 40%.
    • Tuesday evening: Showers are likely. It will be mostly cloudy with a low of 56°. The chance of precipitation is 60%.
    • Wednesday: There is a risk of showers. It will be partly sunny with a high around 66°. The chance of precipitation is 50%.
