Wilson and Fields are both ready to face the Jets

“I think Justin did a good job,” Smith said. “Nobody was perfect here, but it’s about winning. We wish we were 6-0. That’s not us. You are what your record says, so we’re 4-2. I think we’ve made progress in certain areas in a few weeks depending on how they attacked us. There are always things we need to improve.”

The Steelers may feel Wilson gives them a chance to improve their passing attack, although it won’t be easy against the Jets, who allow just 148.8 yards per game through the air.

“We want to get better and continue to grow as the season progresses,” Wilson said. “That’s the goal every year, to keep progressing, to keep getting better from game to game. You go from game six to game seven, seven to eight, you just want to keep moving up, keep getting better.” And you know, I think the best thing for us this week is just to focus on winning, nothing else in the future and just being in the moment and enjoying the moment.”

And that will be the goal regardless of who is playing quarterback, especially against a good New York defense.

“Their pass rush is real. The secondary is talented. The linebackers are flying around,” Wilson said. “They do a lot of great things, so we have to be ready, we have to do our best.”
