Will Jack Tuttle perform on Saturday?

Ahead of this weekend’s game against Arkansas State, we firmly believe we’ll see veteran Jack Tuttle, who has been with the team for seven years, in action for the first time. Tuttle was expected to be a full-time contender for the quarterback position during fall training camp, but an injury prevented him from participating in much of the spring and fall sessions. Ahead of the Week 3 game against the Red Wolves, it sounds like he’s ready.

“Jack is throwing more this week and he looks like he’s ready,” Sherrone Moore said this week.

Tuttle was listed as questionable for last weekend’s game against Texas, suggesting he’s almost healthy enough to compete. If the coaching staff is interested in giving another player a chance at quarterback before the difficult Big Ten schedule begins next weekend, Saturday’s game against Arkansas State would be the best opportunity to do so.

At 6’4″ and 215 pounds, Tuttle has both a size and weight advantage over Warren. He also has much more game experience than all the other quarterbacks on Michigan’s roster combined, which could be an advantage for the Wolverines as they navigate a difficult conference schedule. In his first season at Michigan (2023), Tuttle appeared in six games at quarterback, completing 15 of 17 pass attempts for 130 yards and one touchdown. He also ran the ball four times for 35 yards.

Before Michigan, Tuttle earned four varsity letters at Indiana and started five times at quarterback. During his time with the Hoosiers, he completed 104 of 182 attempts for 901 yards and five touchdowns and was named team captain his senior year.
