Nick Saban believes the Alabama Crimson Tide will win their first game on the third Saturday in October against the Tennessee Volunteers with Kalen DeBoer as coach.

Saban made his Alabama-Tennessee prediction on the set of College game daywhich takes place this week in Austin, Texas for the Top 5 SEC showdown between the Georgia Bulldogs and host Texas Longhorns.

“I gotta do ‘Bama,'” Saban said before choosing the Tide.

fellow Matchday Panelists Lee Corso and celebrity guest picker Scottie Scheffler agreed with Saban and supported Alabama’s win. Desmond Howard, Pat McAfee and Kirk Herbstreit chose Tennessee.

Earlier in the broadcast, Saban repeatedly said that Alabama needed to find ways to get its defense off the field in the third. This is something that has been a problem for the Crimson Tide over the past 10 quarters, starting in the second half against Georgia in Week 5.

“If you’re playing against one of those no-huddle fastball teams and you can’t get off the field on third down, they’re going to be quick and that wears down your defense,” Saban said during the broadcast. “And you have to do it with the people you have in the game.”

In other SEC action, Saban picked the South Carolina Gamecocks to beat the Oklahoma Sooners in Norman and the Arkansas Razorbacks to upset the LSU Tigers in Fayetteville.

At Georgia vs. Texas, Saban used a coin toss to predict the winner.

“I think it’s really unfair to me that with Sark and Kirby, two of the best assistant coaches who have made huge contributions to our program and the success we’ve had at Alabama, I should have to pick one,” Saban joked .

“Texas,” Saban said after the coin landed.

In the top 25, Saban picked the Miami Hurricanes to beat the Louisville Cardinals, Illinois and Bret Bielema to beat the Michigan Wolverines, the Nebraska Cornhuskers to hand the Indiana Hoosiers their first loss of the season, and Colorado and Coach Prime, to beat the Arizona Wildcats.

Saban also picked the West Virginia Mountaineers from his home state to defeat Kansas State in Morgantown.
