Which schools are open/closed after Hurricane Milton?

While many schools are still closed, some districts across the Tampa Bay area are reopening this week.

Citrus County

All schools will be open Monday, October 14th.

DeSoto County

All schools will be open Monday, October 14th.

Hardee County

Schools will be closed Monday, but will reopen to students on Tuesday.

Hernando County

Monday is a professional day, and so are the students not Attendance is mandatory.

Highlands County

All schools will be open Monday, October 14th.

Hillsborough County

All schools will remain in place closed on Monday, October 14th and Tuesday, October 15th. Officials said their goal is to reopen Wednesday.

Manatee County

Monday October 14th is a previously scheduled record day for staff and there will be no classes for students. The district said it hopes to reopen school to students on Tuesday, Oct. 15. Parents should be informed about the status for Tuesday by 5 p.m. Monday.

Pasco County

All schools will be closed on Monday, October 14th. The district says the closure is due to equipment repairs, equipment repairs, fuel shortages and hazardous road conditions.

Pinellas County

All schools will be closed on Monday, October 14th. The district said several schools were still without power. No decision has been made for Tuesday, October 15, but a decision is expected to be made by midday on Monday.

Polk County

Schools will remain closed on Monday, October 14th and Tuesday, October 15th. Campus hours are expected to reopen on Wednesday.

Sarasota County

All schools will remain in place closed on Monday, October 14th and Tuesday, October 15th. The district will resume regular school instruction on Wednesday, October 16th.

Colleges and universities

  • Saint Leo University will hold courses on-line Monday, October 14, through Friday, October 18, for university campuses, the Tampa Education Center and adult education locations.
  • Hillsborough Community College has extended its closure through Monday, October 14th.
