When can we expect further showers and thunderstorms?

WEST PALM BEACH, Fla. – Today will be partly cloudy skies and we’ll feel the heat and humidity that Florida has to offer, with highs reaching 95 degrees Fahrenheit this afternoon.

A heat warning is in effect for Indian River, St. Lucie, Martin and Okeechobee counties as heat indices remain between 105 and 110 degrees this afternoon. An extreme heat warning has been issued for Palm Beach County as heat indices as high as 114 degrees are possible.

Fortunately, there will be a few thunderstorms later in the afternoon that will cool the temperatures.

The later active storms are due to the stationary boundary still lying north of us. We have been observing this pattern for two weeks now.

Precipitation will range from a trace to a half inch. It won’t be a rainy day, but the late afternoon to early evening won’t be too pleasant.

On Sunday, thunderstorms will be more isolated and will clear up in scattered areas by the evening. I expect it to be drier than today, but we will continue to keep an eye on the radar.

Temperatures on Sunday will be just over 35 degrees.

You already know what to expect this work week. The front remains to our north, meaning we’ll mostly be dealing with isolated afternoon storms and temperatures in the 30s.

We could feel some changes the following weekend. It all depends on the cold front possibly drifting south. Stay tuned for the latest news from your First Alert Weather Team.
