Years before the show premiered, many cast members were involved in a “soft swinger” sex scandal that made international headlines after Taylor made her experiences public.

While the controversy led to Taylor divorcing her ex-husband, Tate Paulshe is not finished telling her side of the story yet.

“For the show, I really wanted them to see more of me and my personality on a deeper level,” she said exclusively We weekly“I feel like I come across completely differently online than I actually am in conversation. I felt like this was my chance to tell my story and gain a deeper insight into my personality.”

While other cast members make it clear that not everyone on the show swings, Taylor — who is now dating her boyfriend Dakota Mortensen — continues to reveal new information about her past.

How did Taylor Frankie Paul’s experience with soft swinging begin?

In a September 2024 episode of the podcast “The Viall Files,” Taylor revealed that she and her then-husband had casually begun exploring other partners and couples.

“It wasn’t even a conversation,” she told the moderator Nick Viall. “I think we were all drinking and partying and the guys were like, ‘You girls should make out,’ and that was it. It wasn’t a big deal to me.”

Over time, the situation escalated at cabin parties with another couple. “We were making out in the same bed, having intercourse next to each other in the same bed, the girls were kissing and the husbands were touching each other’s wives,” she described. “It just started to escalate.”

When did Taylor Frankie Paul and Tate Paul reconsider swinging?

In the same “Viall Files” podcast, Taylor recalled a moment when a third couple came into play alongside her and Tate.

“I’m with this other man completely naked and we’re about to get it on, and he’s with his wife and (Tate) is totally drunk and he realizes, ‘We can’t do this. What if one of you gets pregnant? We don’t know who the father is. This is not OK,'” Taylor recalls. “My husband was like, ‘Maybe we should stop doing this with our friends. Maybe we can do this with strangers?’ You could see people developing feelings at that point. They got jealous and weird.”

Taylor admitted that she eventually developed feelings for one of the men in the group, which led to what she calls an “emotional affair.”

In May 2022, Tate and Taylor announced their divorce. He has not commented publicly on the scandal.

How was swinging after work?

Taylor and Tate’s closest friends often stayed late at parties and participated in various games.

“We were blindfolded and played spin the bottle and everyone kissed everyone else,” Taylor said. “All the husbands had to kiss me so they could guess and vice versa.”

When asked whether the activities were similar to those that viewers had seen on Love Island USATaylor confirmed, adding that there had been “a lot of games.”

Where were Taylor Frankie Paul’s children during her swinger parties?

During her marriage to Tate, Taylor had daughter Indy and son Ocean. While she participated in soft swinging, the reality star said her children were often at her mother’s house. However, there were a few occasions when her children were in another part of the house.

“They were upstairs, outside, with their white noise machine on,” she told The Viall Files. “I know it’s really hard to admit that, but that’s what happened. I think that’s what still brings up the guilt.”

Were other women involved in Taylor Frankie Paul’s swinging invited to participate in the show?

Miranda McWhorter And Camille Mundy were two women involved in the #MomTok sex scandal. Despite their possible involvement, both are not expected to appear in Season 1 of The Secret Lives of Mormon Wives.

“Camille and I had several interviews or calls with (Hulu),” Miranda said during an appearance on The Weekly Trash podcast in August 2024. “She and I agreed that it gave us a sinking feeling in our stomachs every time. It just didn’t feel right at all for our lives. I’ve already been exploited on the internet without my consent. Do you think I’m going to ask for it?”

In a separate TiKTok video, Taylor claimed that Miranda and Camille would be willing to participate in the show even if she wasn’t involved.

Miranda and her now-estranged husband Chase McWhorter later denied ever participating in “soft swinging” in a TikTok Live.

The Secret Lives of Mormon Wives is now streaming on Hulu.
