DETROIT – Detroit Lions coach Dan Campbell commented on the second suspension for wide receiver Jameson Williams on Tuesday morning.

Williams, the No. 12 pick in the 2022 NFL Draft, has caught 17 passes for 361 yards and three touchdowns so far this season.

However, he will reportedly miss the next two games due to a suspension for using a performance-enhancing substance.

This would be the second suspension in the three-year career of Williams, who missed 11 games in 2023 due to an injury as a rookie and four games for violating the NFL’s gambling policy.

Campbell joined Jon Jansen and Jim Costa on 97.1 The Ticket for his weekly interview and was immediately asked about the possible suspension.

“Yeah, I can’t, I can’t really say anything about it,” Campbell said. “Until the league makes a judgment and comes to its conclusion, I shouldn’t really comment on it.

“All I can tell you is we’re willing to not have him and we’ll be fine. That’s why we have (Calif Raymond) and (Amon-Ra St. Brown) and (Sam) LaPorta and (Tim Patrick) and Allen Robinson, with David Montgomery, (Jahmyr) Gibbs, among others.

“So we’ll be fine. We carry on. If this thing falls, if it falls, we’ll be fine.”

It must be a frustrating situation for Campbell. The Lions’ offense is one of the strongest in the NFL, and that’s thanks in part to Williams’ ability to stretch the field.

He was also an excellent downfield blocker and recorded 11 first downs.

If the suspension is indeed two games, Williams will miss a home game against the 1-5 Titans and a trip to Green Bay to face the 5-2 Packers.
