Well, at least Michael Keaton got paid for the shelved Batgirl movie

In one year 2022 Deadline In an interview, director Bilall Fallah called Warner Bros. unprecedented cancellation its fully completed Batgirl film a “traumatic experience”, adding that he was “truly sorry” for all the actors, writers and crew members whose work would never see the light of day. His sympathy, however, seems to be somewhat wasted on Michael Keaton, who revive his iconic caped crusader for the postponed film.

“No, I didn’t care. Big, nice, nice check,” Keaton said recently in an interview with GQ When asked whether he was disappointed by Batgirl‘s fate. (In a gesture that seems more fitting for the Penguin than Bruce Wayne, the outlet notes that he also appears to have “rubbed his fingers together in the universal gesture for ‘kilo.'” Err…)

At least he didn’t leave in total DC villain. “I like these guys. They’re nice guys,” he added, talking about Batgirl Co-directors Fallah and Adil El Arbi. “I’m rooting for them. I want them to succeed, and I think they felt very bad, and that made me feel bad.” But as for Keaton himself? “I’m fine,” he said.

Frankly, it would be impossible to be equally interested in every single project when you have acted in as many as Keaton. He is not The First Actor to express his ambivalence toward his previous superheroic work, and he won’t be the last. (He was also allowed to put the mask back on for 2023.) The Flash.) Not everything can Beetlejuice Beetlejuicein which Keaton plays a completely different, but no less iconic suit this September. At least Keaton seems to be happy about that. “Tim (Burton) deserves enormous recognition. He changed everything,” he said GQ“I can’t say for sure, but it’s very likely that without Tim Burton there would be no Marvel universe, no DC universe.”

Keaton’s Batgirl Coldness could also just be an unintended side effect of a business philosophy the actor expressed in the same conversation. “I never panic,” he said. “If you get desperate, you’re done. Never get desperate. You can get insecure and nervous and say, ‘Wow, boy, I’m not feeling so good right now.’ But if you get desperate, you’re done.”
