You can get the Google Pixel 9 with 256GB storage for just £29.99 a month from Mobiles.co.uk with a one-off deposit of £29. This gets you a whopping 500GB of mobile data, as well as unlimited calls and texts with iD Mobile, an operator that uses the Vodafone network and is owned by Currys (which also owns Mobiles.co.uk).

This is a great deal for two reasons. Firstly, at £29.99 per month, the cost for the 24 months is £719.76. Adding the £29 deposit brings the total to £748.76 – less than the cost of the 128GB storage model of the Pixel 9, which retails for £799.

However, this deal is for the 256GB version, which costs a full £100 more at £899. So with this deal, you’re paying around £750 for an £899 phone, plus unlimited calls and texts and 500GB of monthly 5G data.

Bear in mind that, like many phone contracts in the UK, the monthly cost increases every April, so if you choose this contract today, your bill will increase in April 2025 and April 2026 based on the Consumer Price Index (CPI) inflation rate plus 3.9%. However, given the small percentage increases, you’ll still save on the cost of the mobile phone spread over two years, and you’ll also get the generous mobile tariff.

The Pixel 9 looks to be an excellent smartphone from Google. It features dual cameras that look to continue the Pixel range’s excellent reputation for photography, with a 50MP main lens and a 48MP ultra-wide-angle lens.

The phone is also packed to the brim with AI features, including Google’s new Gemini assistant, which lets you search for information faster and more personally than before because it has access to your Google apps and data. The clever new “Add Me” tool also lets you edit photos or add yourself to a group photo.

You can choose between white, black, green or pink models of the Pixel 9, which comes with Android 14 and the promise of seven full years of software updates from Google, which should keep you going well. Samsung also offers those many years with its latest Galaxy S24 phones, a good alternative to the Pixel.

Before you sign a cell phone contract, do the math and make sure you can afford the monthly payments. Once you’ve signed, you can’t avoid paying.

While this is the best deal we’ve seen on the Pixel 9, you should also look around to see if you can get a better price elsewhere and see if you think you’d be better off buying the handset outright if you can afford it to avoid a contract. That way, you can sell the phone sooner if you want, as you’ll have paid it off straight away.

Of course, you should also consider whether you even need a new phone. What you already have is probably still more than OK. But if it’s time to upgrade, this Pixel 9 deal seems like a great choice.
