The high temperature in Denver is expected to be around 66 degrees through mid-October. Highs on Monday will approach 80 degrees, with temperatures in the 70s through Thursday. The first half of the work week will generally be warm, with the exception of Tuesday.

Winds will increase ahead of our next system through Wednesday and Thursday. This could lead to critical fire weather on both days. Gusts of up to 40 miles per hour are possible across the Eastern Plains now.

There is a lot to clarify when it comes to the late week system and there is a lot of uncertainty.

The big picture: A trough will push across the West Coast, move southeast and cut off near northwest Arizona. The position is crucial because further west the cold air would stay too far west. This would result in significantly less cooling of the Eastern Plains compared to the current forecast. If it stays in the east, wetter and cooler solutions would be more likely.

At this point, the First Alert Weather team is favoring a more westerly solution as high pressure blocks to the east, but much can change in the coming days.
