Ward and Smith is pleased to sponsor the upcoming Annual Women’s Professional Development Luncheon hosted by the Wilmington Chamber of Commerce on Wednesday, August 28th from 11:00 a.m. to 1:00 p.m. at the Wilmington Convention Center.

This event is a fantastic opportunity for women in our community to connect, learn and grow together. The luncheon has established itself as a key event in Wilmington, offering a unique blend of networking and inspiring storytelling. Attendees have the opportunity to meet and engage with influential female leaders from some of our region’s largest employers and make valuable connections that can foster both personal and professional development.

One of the highlights of this year’s luncheon will be the keynote speech by Leah Wong Ashburn, CEO of Highland Brewing in Asheville, NC. As a second-generation family business owner, Leah has successfully led Highland Brewing to new heights while respecting its rich history. Her insights on authenticity in the workplace and her experiences transforming a family business are sure to inspire all in attendance.

Leah’s impressive career includes a nomination for the prestigious James Beard Award for Outstanding Beer and Wine Professional in 2018 and the Asheville Chamber of Commerce’s WomanUP Woman Executive of the Year Award in 2019. In addition to her professional accomplishments, Leah is a dedicated community leader and serves on several boards including the Asheville Chamber of Commerce, Buncombe County TDA, Riverlink, AB Tech, UNC Board of Visitors, and the NC Brewers Guild.
