Voter registration deadline is coming in North Carolina: What you should know

CHARLOTTE, NC (WBTV) – The deadline for North Carolinians who still need to register to vote has passed.

According to state rules, registration must be completed by 5:00 p.m. on Friday, October 11, to participate in this year’s election.

There are two ways to register. Prospective voters can do this online, in person at DMV offices, or fill out a printed form and submit it by mail. Anyone who wants to do this online can do so Here. Information about registering by post can be found here Here.

Those who miss the Oct. 11 deadline may still be able to register at early voting sites through a process known as “same-day registration.” Voters can also update their name and address on early voting websites if they are still in the same county. More information about same-day registration can be found here Here.

North Carolina is expected to be in focus on Election Day as the presidential race in the state is razor-thin. Both Donald Trump and Kamala Harris are viewed by Republicans and Democrats as a key swing state and have campaigned hard in the Tar Heel State.

The race to become the state’s next governor will also be decided at the ballot box in November, with Democrat Josh Stein currently leading Republican Mark Robinson in the polls.
