After a stalled drive in the third quarter of Sunday’s game between the Denver Broncos and Las Vegas Raiders, Broncos rookie quarterback Bo Nix made his feelings clear to head coach Sean Payton.

The two engaged in a lively back-and-forth on the sidelines, even though the Broncos held a 20-10 lead:

Nix, Payton and the Broncos appear to be well on their way to their third straight win, so it’s unclear what would result in such a trade. Denver entered the year with low expectations, so a 3-2 finish with a win in an AFC West matchup should be enough to boost the team’s morale.

Nix came into the game with a below-average 660 yards, one touchdown and four interceptions while completing 60.1 percent of his passes. However, he played a flawless game early in the fourth quarter against Las Vegas.

Payton expressed confidence in Nix last week, despite the rookie’s slow start to the season.

“They’re still looking for the perfect picture, the perfect game,” Payton said Wednesday. “I know this Shangri-la doesn’t exist, but the execution, the details need to get better with younger players.”

Nix appears to have taken those words to heart as the Broncos continue to surprise many around the league with their recent streak of success.

After Sunday’s game, Denver hosts another AFC West matchup in Week 6 against the Los Angeles Chargers. A three-game winning streak will certainly give Nix and Payton some confidence despite their brief scuffle on the sidelines.
