Vanderbilt Football Bowl predictions after Week 9

Vanderbilt football can secure bowl eligibility with a win over Auburn on Saturday. If so, it would be the earliest the Commodores have earned bowl eligibility in the modern era and their first trip to a bowl since 2018.

The SEC will likely land multiple teams in the College Football Playoff. The top team that doesn’t make the playoffs ends up in the Citrus Bowl, with the SEC assigning the teams to eight other bowls with conference affiliation.

Vanderbilt is most often projected to play in the Liberty Bowl, which takes place Dec. 27 in Memphis. Other bowls with SEC ties where the Commodores could end up include the Gasparilla Bowl in Tampa, Florida; the Birmingham (Ala.) Bowl, the Music City Bowl or the Las Vegas Bowl.

Eight SEC teams already have six wins and two others, including Vanderbilt, have five wins. ESPN’s FPI also projects that four-win teams Florida, Oklahoma and South Carolina are more likely to achieve bowl eligibility.
