UTRGV Athletics Set for 15 Basketball Promotion Days

RIO GRANDE VALLEY – The University of Texas Rio Grande Valley (UTRGV) Department of Intercollegiate Athletics announced Monday 15 promotional games in the upcoming men’s and women’s basketball seasons, beginning with a basketball doubleheader on Nov. 25 at 4 p.m. at the UTRGV Fieldhouse .

The party for every home game at UTRGV Fieldhouse begins an hour before the game is scheduled to begin at Schlotzsky’s Vaquero Village.

At each game, one lucky fan will be selected to take part in each of the following:

•Try a half-court shot and win a year’s supply of Church’s Texas Chicken.
•Attempt between one and four shots, including a layup, a free throw, a 3-pointer and a half-court shot, for a chance to win increasing amounts of cash in the Rio Bank Money in the Bank Contest win.
•Identify the correct fry container in the Whataburger Fry Shuffle to win a Whataburger gift card.

Additionally, the loudest individual fan during the Wingbarn “Get Loud for Wings” promotion will win a Wingbarn gift card.

The loudest area during each Thursday home game will receive buy-one-get-one-free vouchers at Raising Cane’s on the way out as part of the Cane’s Challenge.

Season tickets, mini-plans and single-game tickets can be purchased at UTRGVTickets.com. Current UTRGV students receive free admission with a UTRGV student ID.

Mini plan options include both 15-game packages for $99 and eight-game packages for $45.

Single-game tickets start at $6 for children 17 and under, $8 for current UTRGV faculty and staff and seniors (ages 65 and older), and $9 for adults purchasing general seating. Reserved seating is $8 for children, $11 for seniors, $13 for all other fans in sections A, D and H and $16 for all other fans in sections B, C and G. Courtside seating is sold out.

•Fans are encouraged to bring a stuffed animal or teddy bear to throw onto the field at halftime. All stuffed animals will be donated to Driscoll and distributed to children in the hospital during the holidays.

•UTRGV Athletics launches Jr. Vaqueros Reading Program. Students in grades 1-8 can earn a free ticket and be recognized on the field at this game by completing their reading log and presenting it at the box office on game day. Fans attending UTRGV home games are expected to comply with the clear bag policy, which can be found at GoUTRGV.com/ClearBag. Additionally, fans must adhere to the following camera guidelines:

Only qualified personnel are permitted to use professional cameras at UTRGV sporting events.

Fans are prohibited from bringing professional cameras, including cameras with removable or interchangeable lenses, camera lenses wider than the camera body, or fixed lenses six inches or larger, into UTRGV Athletics venues. Fans are also prohibited from bringing camera bags, tripods, monopods and selfie sticks into UTRGV Athletics facilities.

Personal handheld cameras, including those in phones, are permitted. However, taking photographs must under no circumstances impair the entrances, seats, aisles or the fun of other guests. In addition, taking photos with flash is strictly prohibited.

Fans are prohibited from selling photos taken at UTRGV sporting events.
