UPDATE: Colorado Highway 9 reopened after head-on collision at intersection with Swan Mountain Road

16:30: Colorado Highway 9 has been reopened after a head-on collision at the intersection with Swan Mountain Road near Farmers Korner.

“Remember, school is back in session,” Summit County Sheriff’s Office officials wrote in a social media update. “Respect school zones and drive with caution.”

16:15: According to the Summit County Sheriff’s Office, northbound Colorado Highway 9 is closed near Swan Mountain Road due to a head-on collision between two vehicles. Northbound traffic is being detoured via Swan Mountain Road.



The accident occurred sometime after 3 p.m. on Tuesday, August 27, and resulted in minor injuries, the sheriff’s office said in a Facebook post. Neither Summit High School students nor staff were involved in the accident, the post said.

The Colorado State Patrol, Breckenridge Police and Sheriff’s Office are on scene.



Just over a month ago, another accident occurred at the same location. This accident, on Tuesday, July 24, involved three vehicles. It resulted in a road closure lasting about an hour and two people were hospitalized with “serious bodily injuries.”
