CHAPEL HILL, NC—The Atlantic Coast Conference released its 2024-25 preseason poll on Tuesday night, picking North Carolina to finish second overall this season. Meanwhile, Tar Heel is a fifth-year guard RJ Davis was a unanimous choice for the Preseason All-ACC First Team and the overwhelming choice for Preseason ACC Player of the Year.

Media gathered at last week’s ACC Tipoff in Charlotte voted on the preseason poll and individual awards released Tuesday.

Carolina received 11 first-place votes and 924 total points in the poll, trailing only Duke’s 42 first-place votes and 956 points. Third-place Wake Forest received the only other first-place vote, reaching 800 points in the voting.

Davis, the reigning ACC Player of the Year after averaging 21.4 points per game last season, was the only unanimous selection to the preseason team. He received 40 of 54 votes for Preseason ACC Player of the Year. Duke freshman Cooper Flagg finished second with 10 votes, followed by three for Wake Forest’s Hunter Sallis and one for Stanford’s Maxime Raynaud.

The rest of the preseason first team included Sallis, Flagg, Notre Dame’s Markus Burton and Miami’s Nigel Pack.

The second team consisted of Ian Schieffelin (Clemson), Chase Hunter (Clemson), Jamir Watkins (Florida State), Baye Ndongo (Georgia Tech) and Ishmael Leggett (Pitt).
