CHAPEL HILL, NC—Junior Seth Trimble led the way with 19 points and an impressive dunk as the blue team defeated the white team 63-53 in the Tar Heels’ blue-white matchup at the Smith Center on Saturday afternoon.

Trimble made a game-high eight field goals on a game-high 15 attempts, made a three-pointer and added five rebounds and three assists. His athletic dunk over a defender came during an aggressive drive in the second half.

With a series of his 42 points in the paint made as a sophomore Elliot Cadeau In ability to drive and dine, the blue team scored 54.5 percent in the first half, 56.0 percent in the second and 55.3 percent overall. Cadeau shot 5-for-9 and finished with 12 points and a game-high four assists.

Junior transfer Cade Tyson scored 13 points on 6 of 11 shots for the Blues, missed all three of his three-point attempts, but contributed four balls and two assists. Fellow junior transfer Ven Allen Lubin scored 10 points, four rebounds and three steals.

For the white team, junior striker Jalen Washington led the way with 11 points and a game-high seven rebounds. Freshman guard Ian Jackson missed 10 of 14 shots but hit two three-pointers and scored 10 points. Freshmen Drake Powell hit 4 of 8 shots for eight points.

In the opening seconds of the second, 12-minute half, the Smith Center crowd got a scare RJ Davis fell to the ground after a collision on the road. Davis remained on the floor for a few quiet minutes before sitting on the bench with the help of the athletic trainer Doug Halverson.

Davis suffered a bruised lower back in the fall and finished the game with nine points on 2 of 6 shots from the floor in 11 minutes of play for the White team.

The blue team outscored the white team 34-23 in the second half and held the white team to a shooting percentage of 37.5 percent after halftime.

The Tar Heels will return to action at Memphis in the Hoops for the St. Jude Tip Off Classic, an exhibition game benefiting St. Jude’s Children’s Research Hospital. ESPNU will televise the game on Tuesday night.

Carolina will also host Johnson C. Smith at the Smith Center on Sunday, Oct. 27, in its final preparation for the exhibition before the Nov. 4 season opener against Elon.

• The Blue team had a 42-24 points advantage and shot over 50 percent in each half (55.3 percent for the game).
