The Tyrone Area FFA Chapter was honored for its exceptional service project in the state.

With an emphasis on community service, the Pennsylvania FFA Association seeks to inspire its more than 15,777 members with the motto “Learn to Do, Do to Learn, Earn to Live, Live to Serve.”

In an announcement in March, a statewide community service challenge was expanded to include all FFA departments.

Nora Hoy, the 2024-25 Section Chair, expressed pride in the dedication of the Section’s 62 school members, who collectively completed 849 hours of community service during the 2023-24 school year.

The project submitted by the Tyrone Area FFA Chapter, the Farmers Care Product Drive, supported the Ronald McDonald House of Hershey.

Led by a committee of ninth grade FFA members, the initiative aimed to raise awareness of the importance of local agriculture and its critical role

in society.

In early February, Joe Diamond, regional organization director, discussed with students the impactful work of the PA Farm Bureau (PFB) in supporting farmers locally and nationally.

Through interactive sessions, FFA members gained insight into diverse career opportunities in agriculture, which ignited their passion for the field.

Motivated by this knowledge, FFA members participated in the Farmers Care program, supported by the PFB Women’s Leadership Committee, which encouraged counties to recognize the commitment of farming families to providing nutritious food to their communities.

The combined efforts of the 31 Tyrone Area FFA members resulted in a remarkable collection of over 1,400 pounds of food, produce and monetary donations in less than two weeks.

The donations were handed over on March 8th and represented an important milestone in their commitment to the community.
