Tyler Herro handles the postgame interview while distracted by a fight in the stands

The NBA preseason is in full swing, but you wouldn’t know it in Miami. Heat guard Tyler Herro’s focus is already midseason, as is the intensity of the fans in the stands.

The focus and intensity came together during a postgame interview Tuesday night. Herro was nearing the end of an interview with Bally Sports when a brawl in the stands caught his attention.

Being the veteran that he is at this point in his career, he handled the distraction like a true pro. Only after he finished his answer did he point out the fight in the stands.

This is exactly the vision of an elite court. This is the kind of deft post-game interview execution you expect from your star players. Anything can happen in Miami and you have to be prepared.

Herro waited until he finished his answer before calmly and coolly pointing to the stands and saying, “I’m sorry. I’m distracted by a fight up there. That’s crazy.”

Tyler Herro’s focus is midseason

As for the fight in the stands, some fans, as entertained by the action as Herro clearly was, stuck around to record video of it and post it on social media.

The video shows a couple of green-haired lunatics beating a man while a woman tries her best to help the man fight them off. That’s too much intensity for the preseason.

Finally, security forces and police intervene to break up the scene, which is not very family-friendly. But not before the fighting engulfed nearly two rows of seats.

Some players would let things like this stop them from even answering the question. They wouldn’t be able to process what they saw and finish as strong as Herro.

Was the interview cancelled? Maybe a question or two early, but some would have stopped long before that. Herro didn’t do that, his concentration is incredible at the moment.

That’s impressive if you ask me, especially after dropping 14 points in 24 minutes of work in a 120-117 win over the San Antonio Spurs.

With any luck, the fans involved in the fight attended their last game of the season in Miami.
