TxDOT will close lanes and ramps for work on I-40 starting Monday

AMARILLO, Texas (KFDA) – Officials with the Texas Department of Transportation said motorists should expect lane and ramp closures starting Monday as work continues on I-40.

Starting Monday, drivers on I-40 eastbound via Tyler Street and Harrison Street should expect lane closures due to bridge construction.

During this time, the Washington Street ramp to eastbound I-40 will be closed.

According to TxDOT, the work is expected to be completed by Wednesday.

Drivers should expect lane closures on I-40 eastbound at the BNSF Railyard. The following ramps are closed:

  • South on US-287 to the I-40 East exit ramp
  • From I-27 north to the I-40 eastbound ramp

According to official information, the work should be completed by August 30.

TxDOT also says drivers on westbound I-40 at the BNSF Railyard to Harrison Street should expect lane closures. The following ramps will be closed at times:

  • I-40 west to exit US-287 north
  • From I-40 westbound to I-27 southbound exit
  • South on US-287 to the I-40 West exit

Work in this section is also scheduled to be completed by August 30.

TxDOT says the Crockett Street Bridge on I-40 will be one lane due to paving work, which is expected to be completed by Wednesday.

There will also be lane closures in both directions of I-40 and Airport Boulevard to install fencing. TxDOT says that work is expected to be completed by Thursday.

Drivers are asked to exercise caution and reduce speed in all construction areas.
