Two weeks without Facebook on my phone and this happened

I’m not here to tell you what to do, but I do want to tell you how I’ve saved a lot of time over the past few weeks by deleting Facebook from my phone.

It started with me getting sick of all the political nonsense, especially since hardly anyone checks everything they post for accuracy and then does nothing but argue with each other instead of having healthy conversations. Doomscrolling has never been higher for me and even though I keep politics off my page, I am lured into reading what idiots post back and forth without getting anywhere.

I initially deleted/locked my account but then realized I need it for work sometimes, so I reopened it for use on my laptop. I rarely use my laptop but always use my phone, so deleting the app from there was key to not checking it.

I’m not saying I’m any less lazy since I don’t have easy access to Facebook, but I’ve gotten more done around the house, I go to bed earlier, and I’m much more productive overall without Facebook.

I always knew I spent too much time scrolling on Facebook, but I didn’t realize how much. Not that the scrolling was all bad, but I wasn’t getting much out of it. I also spent a lot more time on Marketplace, looking for money I didn’t want or need to spend.

It was hard at first because I was constantly swiping around on my phone to find where Facebook posted, but after about a week the habit was gone. It was refreshing and when I log on to my laptop once a week I find I haven’t missed much. Again, I’m not telling you what to do, but if you need a break from all the drama and negativity, try giving yourself one and see if you really miss her. I certainly don’t miss her.
