    The second week of the 2024 college football season raised the question of what the possible 12-team 2024 College Football Playoffs might look like.

    Surprises and close calls marred many of the top 25 teams in the US LBM Coaches Poll, including the Big Ten Conference’s newest member, Oregon, against Boise State in at home. This week, the stakes are raised as Oregon and fellow newcomer Washington face their respective in-state rivals, also known as the Pac-12 remnants.

    Oregon travels to Corvallis, Oregon to face rival Oregon State in the Civil War, while Washington hosts rival Washington State in Seattle for the 116th edition of the Apple Cup. Other key games include Wisconsin hosting No. 4 Alabama in Madison, Wisconsin, while No. 18 Notre Dame faces Purdue on the road.

    UCLA plays its first Big Ten game, hosting Indiana, the only inter-conference game of the week. After a tough home loss to No. 3 Texas, No. 17 Michigan will look to rebound against Arkansas State. One team that will not be in action in Week 3 is Ohio State, as the Buckeyes have a bye.
