Chicago, USA, August 19 (EFE). – US President Joe Biden issued a warning to Republican candidate Donald Trump at the Democratic Party Convention on Monday regarding the November elections, in which female voters are expected to play a central role.

“Trump will discover the power of women in 2024,” Biden said, drawing thunderous applause from the stadium where the party convention is taking place.

Democratic presidential candidate Kamala Harris is making abortion a central issue in her campaign, confident that this strategy will help her mobilize female voters and repeat the success of the 2022 midterm elections, when Democrats performed better than expected in Congress.

Biden said Harris would succeed in overturning the Supreme Court’s Trump-backed decision to override constitutional protections for abortion.

The president said the decision to nominate Harris as his vice president was “the best” of his career.

“She is tough and smart,” said Biden, who gave up re-election a month ago and endorsed Harris, who will be crowned the party’s nominee on Thursday.

Women will be a crucial voting bloc if the Democrats succeed in putting a woman in the White House for the first time in their history.

Biden said that if Harris becomes the first black and South Asian woman to hold the office of US president, she would be an example to all “young women that they can achieve anything they set their minds to.”
