Trump prepares for debate by accelerating his campaign schedule

Former President Donald Trump is ramping up his campaign schedule ahead of his highly anticipated debate against Democratic Vice President Kamala Harris. Campaign officials told Fox News Digital that meeting with voters and answering questions from the press is his way of “preparing.”

Trump and Harris are scheduled to face off in their first debate on ABC News on Tuesday, September 10. The debate will take place at the National Constitution Center in Philadelphia.

The Harris team has agreed to the terms of the original agreement – the same terms used in the debate between Trump and President Biden in June.

Biden’s performance in the debate against Trump led to his downfall, disrupted the election cycle, and forced a change at the top of the Democratic ticket. Biden suspended his re-election campaign shortly thereafter and endorsed Harris.

“We are pleased that Kamala has finally agreed to the terms of the debate after trying to reopen negotiations,” a Trump campaign official told Fox News Digital.

The following rules apply: no notes, no seating, no audience and no open microphones.

The Harris team had argued last month that the microphones should be on and not muted throughout the debate, but ultimately agreed to the initial terms.

Ahead of next Tuesday’s debate, Trump is intensifying his campaign schedule with several events per day.

Trump will be in Harrisburg, Pennsylvania, on Wednesday for a town hall meeting with Fox News’ Sean Hannity.

On Thursday, Trump will travel to New York City to deliver a speech at the New York Economic Club. Later Thursday, he will address the Republican Jewish Coalition.

On Friday, Trump will travel to North Carolina to meet with law enforcement officials and deliver a speech.

On Saturday, the former president will hold a rally in Wisconsin.

“He’s using rallies and speeches as a big part of debate preparation,” a campaign official told Fox News Digital. “Meeting with voters and interacting with the press is a form of preparation – you’ve seen him make more media appearances in recent weeks.”

The official added: “In many ways, this is his preparation.”

Fox News Digital has learned that senior campaign adviser Jason Miller is leading preparations for the debate, and that Stephen Miller and the political team are also involved.

As for Harris’ campaign, Fox News Digital reported last month that the vice president had enlisted Paul, Weiss, Rifkind, Wharton & Garrison attorney Karen Dunn to help with debate prep. Dunn helped Harris prepare for her 2020 vice presidential debate against then-Vice President Mike Pence.

At the same time, Dunn is serving as lead counsel for Google in the Biden-Harris administration’s lawsuit against the tech giant.

The lawsuit, United States v. Google LLC, is the Biden-Harris administration’s antitrust lawsuit targeting Google’s digital advertising practices. The trial is scheduled to begin on September 9, one day before the first presidential debate.

“Kamala Harris will never be able to stand up to Big Tech because she’s being coached by Google’s top lawyer on what to say in the debates,” Tim Murtaugh, a senior adviser to Trump’s campaign, told Fox News Digital. “Think about how outrageous this is — her administration is suing Google, but Harris is taking political advice from the defendant’s lawyer.”

Murtaugh said, “Every first-year law student knows this is a conflict of interest.”

Neither the Harris team nor Dunn responded to Fox News Digital’s request for comment.
