Trump has another response to Biden’s “garbage” comment about GOP supporters

Former President Donald Trump has twice responded to President Joe Biden’s “garbage” remark about Trump supporters, most recently just before midnight.

Biden was asked during a virtual campaign rally by Kamala Harris on Tuesday about a comment made by comedian Tony Hinchcliffe during a Trump rally on Sunday, when the comedian called Puerto Rico a “floating island of trash.”

The president said: “The only trash I see floating out there is (Trump) supporters.”

Based on the 74.2 million votes Trump received in the 2020 election, the incumbent president described nearly half of the country’s voters as “garbage,” according to the Federal Elections Commission.

Trump didn’t hesitate to tweet a response.

“While I am waging a campaign of positive solutions to save America, Kamala Harris is waging a campaign of hate,” Trump wrote. “To make matters worse, Joe Biden calls our supporters “trash.” You can’t lead America if you don’t love the American people. Kamala Harris and Joe Biden have shown that they are both unfit to be President of the United States.

Former President Trump on Fox News hosts Sean Hannity’s show on Tuesday, October 29, 2024.

“I am proud to lead the largest, broadest and most important political coalition in American history. We welcome historic numbers of Latinos, African Americans, Asian Americans and citizens of all races, religions, colors and creeds. It is my desire to be the president of the whole people.

Trump first heard of Biden’s “garbage” expressions while standing on a stage during a rally with Florida Sen. Marco Rubio, who reportedly alerted Trump to the president’s claim.

Trump is urging his supporters to “forgive” Biden as a show of unity after the president called supporters “trash.”

“Wow. This is terrible,” Trump said before remembering Hillary Clinton is notorious “deplorable” comments just weeks before the 2016 election. “And then she said irredeemable. That didn’t work.”

“I think trash is worse,” Trump said. “But he doesn’t know. You must please forgive him.”

Biden’s remark came as Harris had her last major campaign rally – which took place near the White House.

The White House attempted to walk back Biden’s statement by releasing the following:

“Today I called the hateful rhetoric about Puerto Rico expressed by Trump supporters at his rally at Madison Square Garden trash – that’s the only word I can think of to describe it,” Biden tweeted. “His demonization of Latinos is unconscionable. That’s all I wanted to say. The comments at this rally do not reflect who we are as a nation.”

Early voting has begun across the country and Election Day is November 5th.
