Former President Donald Trump and Vice President Kamala Harris will both address supporters on Thursday in a key swing state: Nevada.

In the afternoon, Trump is holding a rally in Henderson, Nevada, southeast of Las Vegas. This isn’t the only Western state where Trump will make a campaign stop on Thursday – he’s also traveling to Albuquerque, New Mexico.

Harris, meanwhile, will hold rallies in Reno and Las Vegas on October 31 to encourage Nevada voters to go to the polls, as well as a stop in Phoenix, Arizona.

How the counting of ballots will be protected on election night and beyond

More than a dozen county and city election officials spoke to USA TODAY about what they are doing to ensure they can count ballots at central election counting sites after polls close, regardless of what happens outside.

Election officials have built new warehouses where ballots will be counted under increased security. Local and state law enforcement have played out several scenarios in which large crowds gathered at ballot counting sites.

Some jurisdictions have reduced the number of observers allowed and require them to obtain their authorization well in advance.

In the final days of the election, battleground states like Pennsylvania remain closely contested for Democrat Kamala Harris and Republican Donald Trump and could be key to an Electoral College victory.

Two recent polls show how close the race is in Pennsylvania, which is one of seven swing states that could determine victory in the race for the White House. A new CNN poll conducted by SSRS found the race tied in Pennsylvania, while a new poll from Quinnipiac University gave Trump a one-point lead over Harris.

Nationally, Trump and Harris are at 48% in the latest TIPP tracking poll.

As the exciting race nears its conclusion in five days, Trump and Harris both plan to address supporters on Thursday in Nevada, another key swing state.

California’s former Republican governor, Arnold Schwarzenegger, announced that he would vote for the Democrats in the presidential election.

“I will always be an American before I am a Republican,” he wrote in a social media post on Wednesday. “That’s why I’m voting for Kamala Harris and Tim Walz this week.”

The professional bodybuilder and actor turned Republican politician served as governor from 2003 to 2011. California is Harris’ home state.

Schwarzenegger encouraged his supporters to vote even if they disagreed with him, but gave reasons why he would not support former President Donald Trump.

The historian who correctly predicted nine of the last ten presidential elections is still voting for Harris

Democratic candidate Kamala Harris will be the next president of the United States, beating Republican rival Donald Trump on Election Day, historian and election observer Allan Lichtman still predicts.

Lichtman, known for correctly predicting the results of the last nine out of 10 presidential elections, said on his YouTube channel Tuesday evening that his prediction had not changed despite Democratic candidate Harris’ lead shrinking in battleground states and the polls were shockingly close to each other.

“Nothing has changed in my prediction that I made on September 5,” Lichtman said, “contrary to the polls.”

Harris fights Wednesday night in Wisconsin

Vice President Kamala Harris returned to a familiar place in the final stretch of her presidential campaign.

While she works to preserve personal freedoms and protect democracy, she made her pitch Wednesday evening a few miles from the University of Wisconsin-Madison, where her progressive parents were involved in various civil rights initiatives in the late ’60s. She spoke to a predominantly female audience here at the nearly 10,000-seat Alliant Energy Center.

As president, Harris promised to look for common ground and common-sense solutions to problems: “I’m not interested in scoring political points.” “I want to make progress,” she said in her speech.

Trump exploits Biden’s nonsense in insult-filled speech in Wisconsin

Former President Donald Trump made President Joe Biden’s “garbage” gaffe a central theme of his campaign rallies on Wednesday. He also continued to take shots at his Democratic opponent, Vice President Kamala Harris.

“Her gross incompetence disqualifies her as president of the United States,” Trump said Wednesday night during a rally in Green Bay, Wisconsin. “Nobody respects her, nobody trusts her, nobody takes her seriously.”

Trump rode to the event in Wisconsin in the front seat of a personalized garbage truck, wearing a neon orange trash collector vest. The move referenced Biden’s statement on Tuesday in which he called supporters of the former president “trash.”

The 2024 White House race will be razor-thin until Election Day. The Real Clear Politics average of national polls has Trump leading Harris by just 0.4 percentage points, well within the margin of error for each of the polls included.

In some swing states that could ultimately decide the election, it’s even closer. For example, in Real Clear Politics’ Wisconsin polling average, Harris leads Trump by 0.2 percentage points.

Donald Trump is holding rallies on Thursday in two western states: New Mexico and Nevada. Trump will address voters in Albuquerque in the afternoon before making a campaign stop in Henderson, outside Las Vegas.

The former president unveiled one of his key campaign promises during a June rally in Las Vegas, vowing that if elected he would seek to eliminate federal taxes on tips, a likely winner in Nevada, whose casino and entertainment economy depends on tips.

Kamala Harris will hold rallies in Reno and Las Vegas, urging Nevada voters to come up with a voting plan. The Silver State is one of the crucial swing states that could ultimately decide the 2024 election.

It will be the vice president’s first visit to northern Nevada since he landed at the top of the Democratic ticket. Her most recent trip took place in April 2023, when she spoke with Reno Mayor Hillary Schieve and actress Rosario Dawson about reproductive rights on the University of Nevada, Reno campus.

Harris will also address voters at a rally in Phoenix, Ariz., on Thursday morning.
