Trump dreams of putting Liz Cheney in front of a firing squad

Donald Trump dreamed of having former Rep. Liz Cheney shot during a campaign rally in Arizona.

“She is a radical war hawk. “Let’s put them there with a nine-barreled gun shooting at them, okay?” Trump told Tucker Carlson on Thursday night. “Let’s see what she thinks, you know, with the guns pointed at her face.”

“They’re all war hawks when they sit in a nice building in Washington and say, ‘Oh man, let’s send 10,000 soldiers right into the enemy’s mouth,'” he said of his critics.

Cheney — who, along with Vice President Kamala Harris, has campaigned as one of the former president’s most vocal Republican critics — responded to the comments Friday morning.

“This is how dictators destroy free nations,” she wrote on X, formerly Twitter. “They threaten those who speak out against them with death. We cannot entrust our country and our freedom to a petty, vindictive, cruel and unstable man who wants to be a tyrant.”

In the final weeks of the campaign, Trump increasingly expressed fascist rhetoric while making threats against his political opponents. Earlier this month he suggested that “radical left-wing lunatics… the enemy from within… should be very easy to deal with, if necessary, by the National Guard or, if really necessary, by the military.”

Cheney is not the only Republican to publicly warn that Trump will rule in an authoritarian manner. Former Trump White House chief of staff John Kelly recently stated that the former president met the definition of a fascist and, as president, has repeatedly expressed his desire to have generals as loyal to him as Hitler.

As already reported by Rolling Stone, ahead of his 2024 campaign Trump repeatedly asked his close advisers what they thought about reintroducing firing squads as an execution method.

The (former) president believes this would help put the fear of God into violent criminals,” a source said Rolling Stone. “He wanted to do some of these (things) when he was in office, but for whatever reason didn’t get a chance.”

In his latest attack on Cheney, it appears that Trump is not only dreaming of ruling over a cadre of blindly loyal military leaders, but also thinking about exactly how he would use them.
