Truck and tractor pulls at the Choteau County Fair are for everyone – Hi-Line Today

The 112th edition of the Choteau County Fair continues with grandstand events on Friday and Saturday nights. The Montana Pullers Association will return to Fort Benton for the second time this summer to host the truck and tractor pulls for this year’s fair. New Media Broadcasters spoke with Megan Werner, one of the owners of the Pullers Association, to ask her about her company’s relationship with Choteau County and what makes the annual visit to the fair so special.

“We’ve been working with the Choteau County Fair for the last three years,” Werner said. “We’ve probably been there for the last 10 years, but as far as actually running the event, we’ve been working with them for three years.”

“We have a great relationship with the fair board and the members there,” Werner continued. “We continue to have a great working relationship with them.”

This year’s show will feature two nights of competition, with both truck and tractor pullers having a chance to score the Friday night high score, the Saturday night high score and the overall high score. The total payout is $30,000 for featured players from seven different classes. Werner revealed a few more details about what spectators in the stands can expect.

“The spectators in the stands will see a bit of a rematch,” Werner said. “Many of these guys have competed with us at our other events throughout the summer. This is a bit of a final assessment of the season.”

“(At the Choteau County Fair) we usually have a good semi presence as well, which is something we don’t see at a lot of our events,” Werner continued. “Usually between five and 15 semis show up and they’re usually locals. Everyone loves locals.”

One final twist to all of this is that there is plenty of space for fans who want to try truck and tractor pulling for themselves. Werner offered some words of encouragement for those who want to join in the festivities rather than just watch from the stands.

“Everyone is welcome to come and try it out,” Werner said. “This isn’t just for our experienced veterans. We love newbies. Everyone is welcome to come and try it out.”

“We don’t turn anyone away,” Werner continued. “You can pull pretty much anything you have. Myself and my husband have both pulled our Jeep Grand Cherokee in the past.”

“Our everyday riders also took part in these trips and many of our friends also took their everyday riders with them,” said Werner. “We’re happy when the locals come along and try it out.”

The Choteau County Fair truck and tractor pulls are Friday and Saturday nights. Both shows begin at 7 p.m. Tickets are $20 for adults and $10 for children. Children under five are free.
