Truck accident causes traffic delays and unusual dialogue with officials

  • The video shows an overturned truck carrying cement mixture, which caused significant traffic delays.
  • The truck overturned on Lineville Road and landed right on the Howard-Suamico border.

(The following is a transcript of the entire broadcast)

On Monday afternoon at around 1:45 p.m., police officers responded to an accident after a semi-trailer carrying concrete mix overturned in a roundabout.

The traffic congestion along Highway 41 was significant, but the accident scene on Lineville Road was almost as unique as the accident itself.

“We’re kind of on the border between Howard and Suamico,” said Joe Young, a lieutenant with the Howard Fire Department.

He says Lineville Road’s jurisdiction can cloud matters somewhat because of its location.

He says whoever receives the emergency call first can usually handle the situation.

“The north side of the street here is Suamico. The south side of the street is Howard,” Young said.

“This area is patrolled by the Brown County Sheriff’s Office. So, regardless of Howard and Suamico, it will be Brown County Sheriff’s officers or possibly State Police that respond.”

Officials told NBC 26 the situation could have been worse. There were no dangerous chemicals involved at the scene of the accident and the driver was ultimately fine and did not require medical attention.
