Troy Aikman and Joe Buck lambasted the Cowboys for not signing Derrick Henry during the MNF

The Dallas Cowboys didn’t play a game in Week 7, but as the game came to a close, they lost a shot from someone they cared about.

Troy Aikman has been known for throwing touchdowns for the Cowboys throughout his career, but he threw some shade on Monday night. After comments about the Cowboys’ current wide receivers running poor routes, Aikman and his ESPN broadcast partner Joe Buck had some fun at the expense of America’s Team.

In case you didn’t know, Monday night was one of two games between Aikman and Buck. The Arizona Cardinals and Los Angeles Chargers danced in the desert while Troy and Joe called the match between the Baltimore Ravens and the Tampa Bay Buccaneers in Florida.

Late in the third quarter, Ravens running back Derrick Henry broke off a big run. You can imagine what came next.

When Aikman talked about Henry and how valuable he was to the Ravens this season, he was indirectly taking aim at the Cowboys for not pursuing him as a free agent.

“There must be a lot of teams out there that had the opportunity to get Derrick Henry and are kicking themselves for not doing it. But he’s an absolutely perfect fit for this Ravens offense.”

The NBA returns this week, but the first alley-oop of the season is here as Joe Buck made the point Troy made.

“Can you spontaneously imagine teams? I’ll just throw this out there, Derrick Henry’s offseason home is in Dallas, Texas.”

Derrick Henry was a free agent that anyone could have signed in the offseason, or one that the Tennessee Titans never could have let get to this point. Still, the Cowboys have become the poster child for failure every time he does something noteworthy as mentioned, and that has happened quite frequently so far this season.

The reason for this is that Jerry Jones insisted that the Cowboys couldn’t afford him, which goes against everything on the internet. The fact that Henry, as Buck mentioned, actually has a home in Dallas and that he himself apparently had an interest in playing for the Cowboys only adds to the hysteria of the whole thing.

This storyline won’t go away as long as Derrick Henry plays well. Buckle up.
