Travis Hunter Injury Update: Pete Thamel provides an update on the Colorado star’s availability against Arizona

ESPN insider Pete Thamel provided an injury update on Colorado star Travis Hunter during ESPN College GameDay on Saturday.

Thamel announced that Hunter is expected to play Saturday night against Arizona after leaving last week’s game against Kansas State with an injury.

“Travis Hunter is expected back tonight against Arizona. It will be interesting to see how many snaps he plays. “In the complete games he played this season, he averaged 127 snaps,” Thamel said. “He’s obviously the two-way sensation that’s ahead in the Heisman race right now, and Hunter seems to be back.

“Last year when he was injured against Stanfordhe played over 150 snaps.”

Travis Hunter missed the second half of Colorado’s loss to Kansas State last week, as did wide receiver Jimmy Horn.

Colorado Head coach Deion Sanders revealed this two-way superstar earlier this week Travis Hunter “Definitely should play.”

Hunter suffered what appeared to be a shoulder injury in the second quarter. He shuttled back and forth between the sideline and the locker room several times before missing the final shots before halftime and not returning to the ballgame.

In his 44 snaps, he recorded three catches for 26 yards and one tackle before spending the rest of the game on the sideline in full gear and a shoulder brace.

“He was just there to support his team and he did a good job of that,” Sanders said.

The Heisman candidate and arguably favorite has a team-high 49 catches for 587 yards and six touchdowns this season. Travis Hunter also had two interceptions to lead Colorado. He added 17 tackles, one tackle for loss, three pass breakups and one forced fumble.

Colorado is 4-2 this season heading into Saturday’s game against Arizona. Not only would a win bring the Buffaloes within one game of bowl eligibility, it would also be a major boost for Travis Hunter in his quest to win the Heisman. The good news is that the injury doesn’t appear to have been serious.
