Tracking the summer heat that dictates the work week

TONIGHT: I’m watching the clouds break up as the rain continues to move southeast throughout the evening. Temperatures will drop to 65 to 70 degrees by the end of the night, with southeast winds 5 to 10 mph.

TOMORROW: I expect a lower chance of precipitation (20%) in the morning hours before the sun returns in the afternoon. Temperatures will rise to just above 35 degrees and the heat index will reach nearly 38 degrees. Southerly winds at 5-10 mph with gusts up to 20 mph will help warm things up throughout the day.

EXTENDED: I’m observing the summer heat to continue, with daytime highs in the 90s and 95s degrees Fahrenheit and heat index readings in the 100s and 104s degrees Fahrenheit range. This will continue through Wednesday before a more active pattern becomes apparent. There is a chance of thunderstorms on Wednesday (20%), but the chances (30%) are greater Thursday into Friday as a cold front will move through the area. This cold front will bring relief through the end of the week, with highs on Friday and Saturday at just above 80 degrees Fahrenheit.
