An initial warning was issued for North Texas on Monday due to the threat of strong and severe storms that could produce tornadoes, large hail, damaging winds and localized flooding.

Be prepared for an active day with multiple ways to receive alerts. Wind gusts up to 60 mph and quarter-sized hail are forecast for parts of North Texas.

Most of North Texas is at mild risk for severe weather. Counties farther north, including Denton, Collin, Grayson and Cooke, have an increased risk of severe weather.

From 8 a.m. to 11 a.m., storms will develop in western counties before moving east toward the Dallas-Fort Worth Metroplex. From 11 a.m. to 5 p.m., the storm line moves toward the Metroplex with all possible dangers.

From 5:00 p.m. to 10:00 p.m., storms will move out of the Metroplex and strengthen eastward.
