Tuesdays Wordle is not the easiest, with a letter combination that some players may find difficult to convert into the winning word.

The popular word quiz strikes just the right balance when it comes to skill – not easy enough to bore us, but not hard enough to put us off either. And there’s no shame in trying to crack one of these brain teasers – their creator Josh Wardle has previously revealed that he himself is “not very good at it”.

The New York City-based software developer developed the game in 2021 to entertain his partner during the coronavirus lockdowns, and he recounted Newsweek that they sit on the couch together every morning and play it.

“She’ll always do it in three attempts, which is how it is, Away better than I can ever achieve,” he said. “It usually takes me at least four or five tries.” “I’m afraid I’m not really the best,” he admitted.

How does Wordle work?

The game asks users to guess a hidden five-letter word and they are only given six guesses to do so.

The secret word is hidden behind game pieces and after each guess the colors show what you did wrong and what you did right. If the letter is gray, it means it is not part of the secret word and can be discarded. Yellow tiles indicate that the letter appears in the word but is in the wrong place. And then there is the holy grail of tiles, the green, which means the letter is right and in the right place.

There is only one Wordle per day, but it resets every night at midnight, creating a new crack to the puzzle with each new morning.
