LYNCHBURG, Va. (WSET) — Today, October 15, is the last day to register to vote regularly in the 2024 presidential election.

But don’t worry – you can vote even if you’re not registered. It’s just going to be a different process for it.

Even if you’re not registered to vote, starting October 16, you can register and vote on the same day – even on Election Day. If you choose this route, you will be voting on a provisional ballot rather than a regular ballot.

Here are the upcoming key dates for the election cycle:

• Oct 15 – Deadline for registering to vote and regular voting
• Oct 16 – Registration begins on the same day. Anyone who registers and votes at the same time must cast a provisional ballot.
• Oct 25 – Last day to request an absentee ballot by mail or online
• November 2nd – Last day of early voting
• November 5th – ELECTION DAY
• November 8th – All ballots sent by mail must be received at the registry office by 12:00 p.m.
• November 15th – Deadline for confirmation of provisional ballots by the local election board
• Dec 2nd – The State Board of Elections certifies the results.
• Dec 17 – The Electoral College meets to vote for the President and Vice President.
