Today a hot weather period begins

LAWTON, Okla. (KSWO) – The main weather event this Friday/weekend will be the return of hotter than usual temperatures! The average daily high temperature for the city of Lawton this time of year is 90°F. Across Texoma, highs will rise to the highs of 95°F to nearly 100°F. Mostly sunny with southerly winds 10-15 mph.

All plans for Friday night should be in order with temperatures around 35 degrees at 7pm. Later in the evening (10pm) we will see 30 degrees with clear skies and southeasterly winds at 5 to 10 mph.

Temperatures will drop to 18 to 20 degrees by daybreak tomorrow. On Saturday, partly cloudy skies will be seen with a light southerly wind. Sunday will see very similar conditions, but mostly sunny to start with partly cloudy skies in the afternoon. Not everyone will see triple-digit highs this weekend, but either way… hot is still hot.

Morning temperatures will be between 18 and 21 degrees Celsius on both days.

Futuretrack shows widespread rain developing across the Texas Panhandle Saturday night. There is a chance that one or two storms could impact our western counties, but coverage will be significantly light and many will be unaffected.

I wish you a nice Friday and an even better weekend! – LW
