ForbesTips and answers on today’s NYT’s “Connections” for Sunday, September 1

Hey guys! I hope you’re enjoying the extra day off if it’s a holiday where you are. Otherwise, I hope you’re all ready to start a fantastic week.

I decided to snooze as much as possible over the weekend to make up for my lack of sleep (which is more like a sleep mortgage) and hopefully develop a more consistent nighttime routine. Not the most exciting weekend, but one that could pay off for me in the long run.

Be that as it may, today NYT Connections Clues and answers coming soon.

How to play connections

Connections is a free, popular New York Times daily word game. Every day at midnight you get a new puzzle. You can NYT Website or game app.

You are presented with a grid of 16 words. Your task is to sort these into four groups of four by finding the connections between them. The groups can be things like clickable items, names of participants in research studies, or words preceded by a body part.

Each puzzle has only one solution. You must be careful with words that could fit into more than one category. You can mix the words up to see if there are any connections between them.

Each group is color-coded. The yellow group is usually the easiest to understand, blue and green are in between, and the purple group is usually the most difficult. The purple group often includes wordplay.

Choose four words that you think go together and press submit. If you guess wrong, you lose a life. When you’re close to having a correct group, a message may appear letting you know that you’re one word away from the correct group, but you still need to figure out which one to swap out.

If you make four mistakes, it’s game over. Let’s make sure that doesn’t happen with some tips. And if you’re really having trouble, today’s Connections Answers. As with Wordle and other similar games, you can easily share the results with your friends on social media and group chats.

This is your final warning!

Today’s Connections Answers are …

  • Yellow group – strange (NEUTRAL, FUNNY, UNUSUAL, FUNNY)
  • Green Group – Assignment (POSITION, POST, STATION)
  • Blue Group – classic collectibles (COINS, COMICS, RECORDS, STAMPS)
  • Purple Group – Chain ____ (LETTER, POST, REACTION, SHOP)

After eight defeats in a row, I’m back on the winning track, but for me today’s game was not a perfect one.

It took me a while to figure this one out. First I noticed the green tones as my brain made the connection between JOB and POST, and then the yellow solidified when I spotted FUNNY and OFF next to each other.

I wasn’t quite sure how to proceed from there, so I randomly and incorrectly guessed STAMP, COIN, STORE, and RECORD. That left me one from a group and I realized what the blue ones should be. That left the purple ones – which I recognized the connection when I saw them all next to each other – for the win.

PS: We’re about 19 days early with the lyrics of this song, but I can’t get it out of my head, so I’m going to add it now:
