Timothée Chalamet crashes at doppelganger event in New York City

Timothée Chalamet has stunned fans after making a surprise appearance in a lookalike competition for the actor.

The Wonka star crashed the event in New York City, drawing a chorus of screaming fans.

During a brief appearance in Washington Square Park, Chalamet was seen posing for photos with his curly-haired lookalikes.

The city’s police directed the crowded event, which drew hundreds of people.

Variety reported that Chalamet sneaked through the crowd behind a mask and baseball cap and then snuck up on two look-alikes who had posed for photos, causing an uproar throughout the park.

The competition, organized by YouTuber Anthony Po, promised a $50 (£39) prize to the winner and had attracted thousands of participants to an online invitation.

A fan of the Call Me by Your Name and Dune actor, Lauren Klas, described what makes a good Chalamet. “It’s all in the nose,” he told the AP news agency.

“Actually, his entire bone structure.”

Participants were also asked about their knowledge of French, plans to make the world a better place and romantic intentions with Kylie Jenner, whom the star is reportedly dating, AP reported.

Finally, Miles Mitchell, 21, of Staten Island, was crowned winner in a Willy Wonka outfit before throwing candy from a briefcase into the crowd.

A new trailer for A Complete Unknown was released earlier this month, with the star portraying Bob Dylan.

The biopic is set in the 1960s and follows Dylan’s rise to the top of the charts.

The film is scheduled to be released in December in the US and January in the UK.
