NATCHITOCHES, Louisiana (NSU) – Tickets are now on sale for the annual Northwestern State/Independence Bowl kickoff luncheon in Shreveport, sponsored by John and Lynne Manno.

The preseason football festival will be held Aug. 22 in Ballroom B at Superior’s Steakhouse, 855 Pierremont Avenue in Shreveport, with lunch beginning at 11:45 a.m., one week before NSU’s season opener Aug. 29 at Tulsa.

The all-inclusive lunch is $20 and includes salad, a plated meal and dessert. Reservations are accepted at the Radiance Technologies Independence Bowl office at 318-221-0721. Attendees are asked to bring cash or a check to the event.

“Our department is excited to participate in this event,” said Kevin Bostian, athletic director. “The Radiance Technologies Independence Bowl and Northwestern State Athletics are long-time partners who have built a mutually beneficial relationship around the start of the football season. We have always worked very closely and very well with (Independence Bowl Executive Director) Missy Setters and her team. This kickoff to the football season is one of the longer-standing traditions for us and the Shreveport community that means a lot to Northwestern State from a current student and alumni perspective. We look forward to connecting with our fan base and allowing them to hear from Coach McCorkle about the 2024 season.”

Bostian, the Demon’s new head coach Blaine McCorkle and members of the Radiance Technologies Independence Bowl team will be present for the lunch. Bostian and McCorkle will preview Northwestern State’s 2024 season while the bowl staff will provide a report on the 48th annual Independence Bowl, which will be played at Shreveport’s Independence Stadium on Dec. 28 at 8:15 p.m.
