Thuram scores the winning goal in injury time against the Young Boys

Marcus Thuram scored the winning goal in stoppage time to give Inter Milan a narrow 1-0 victory over Young Boys in the Champions League.

In the third minute of injury time, the substitute got in front of his opponent and converted a cross from Marko Arnoutovic.

It was a moment of redemption for Arnautovic, who missed a penalty early in the second half after Jaouen Hadjam was penalized in the penalty area for dragging Denzel Dumfries to the ground by his neck.

Arnautovic’s shot lacked punch and Young Boys keeper David von Ballmoos guessed the right path, parried the ball and then reacted quickly to stop Dumfries from burying the follow-up.

This means that Inter Milan are in the league phase of the Champions League with seven points, while the Young Boys remain without a point after three games.

In an entertaining encounter, the Swiss dominated and were unlucky not to score in the first half. The efforts of Jaouen Hadjam and Lukasz Lakomy forced Yann Sommer to make two great saves.

Benjamin Pavard had to fend off a bullet header from Alan Virginius, while Joel Monteiro should have done better as he smashed his shot over the bar after going wide.

Monteiro continued to threaten after the break as he danced past defenders before failing to hit the crossbar while firing another effort narrowly wide.
