Three injured, two in hospital after accident near downtown Lincoln

LINCOLN, Nebraska (KOLN) – Three people were injured and two were hospitalized after a rollover crash Sunday evening near downtown Lincoln.

On Sunday around 8:50 p.m., first responders were called to an accident near 20th and K Streets.

A Lincoln teenager was driving north on 20th Street and ran a stop sign, resulting in a collision with two vehicles traveling east on K Street.

The northbound vehicle collided with an eastbound vehicle in the middle lane and was thrown onto its side. The vehicle, which had disregarded the stop sign, was then struck on the driver’s side by an oncoming vehicle in the southernmost lane.

Five people were involved in the accident, three of them in the vehicle that ignored the stop sign and two other drivers. Three people sustained injuries, one of them seriously.

The seriously injured teenager, a passenger in the vehicle on K Street, refused transport. Two others were taken to the hospital with minor injuries.

The teenager, who was driving on K Street, was cited for failure to stop a stop sign and released.

All vehicles were totaled with $6,000 in damages. Alcohol and drugs played no role in the accident.
